ABOUT
A native of Yazoo City, MS, Alva Peyton Taylor has been practicing law since 1998.
After graduating from Mississippi College Law School, she worked with the Mississippi Department of Human Services as a staff attorney. Although she was passionate about family law, her heart and career opportunities took her down the path of criminal defense. After two years as Assistant Public Defender, she was the first African American and the first woman to be named Head Public Defender of Yazoo County.
But she did not stop there. Taylor has since gone on to work in the public defender offices in Holmes County. She also works as Defense Attorney for the 21st Judicial District Adult Felony Intervention Court (Drug Court). And she is the Youth Court Referee for Holmes County.
While working within these judicial systems, she has also maintained a private practice for the span of her career.
In her 20+ year law career, her main focus above all else has been helping the people who need it most. And she is always ready to put those years of experience and love for helping people to work for you.
